When organic farmer Su Kahumbu Stephanou first reached out to us at the Soil Food Web School, we excitedly shared her background with the team because we knew we’d found a passionate person who was poised to continue making an immense impact on her students in Kenya and beyond.
Su is now a Certified Soil Food Web Lab-Tech and is working her way through the Consultant Training Program. Her work with iCow and Archaea Kenya Ltd. uses technology to connect farmers to training that is vital in leveling up their operations with the power of soil biology. iCow leverages Information and Communications Technologies and partnerships to improve smallholder farmer prosperity by optimizing production systems using regenerative practices.
Su will join us live on Thursday, February 6 at the 4th event in our series “Celebrating the Soil Regen Community” to present about her work in Kenya through organizations that are giving people the information to make a difference in the way they farm, through the adoption of the Soil Food Web Approach. This event will also feature lawyer & Soil Food Web Consultant Robbin Potts from Michigan, U.S.; Soil Food Web School student Marina Utsch from Brazil; Soil Food Web Consultant & Instructor Dora Tkalec from Finland and our host, the Soil Food Web School’s lead scientist, researcher & CTP Instructor, Dr. Carla Portugal.
Linet Okowo of Business Daily Africa recently caught up with Su to discuss her goals for continued expansion of the iCow Soil Advocacy Programme. Read more about Su from her TED bio and the iCow website and please join us live on February 6 for her presentation and live Q&A! If you can’t attend live, don’t worry; all registrants will receive the replay link. You may register here.
Some of you may remember the 1990s Gatorade commercial jingle referencing pro basketball star Michael Jordan that said, “I wanna be like Mike.” Well, we’d like to “do what Su can do” and join her in spreading the Soil Food Web Approach to communities worldwide!
