How to sample
Sample Depth

Sample from the top 3 inches.

Sample from the top 3 inches if that zone is wet enough to have active root growth. If that layer is a dust mulch, sample deep enough to collect soil that supports microbes and roots. Be sure to inform us if the sample is other than 0-3 inch depth.

Be sure to take samples where active feeder roots are in the foodweb that most affects the plant. Keep this in mind when looking at drip wells versus drive lanes, etc. There are soil microbes everywhere, so think--Where is the foodweb that most affects the plant roots?
